I began my escrow career at the bottom, but not in the mail room. I was cleaning office buildings at night while going to college during the day. One of the office buildings I was responsible for was the Huntington Beach escrow office of Western Title Insurance Company. The escrow manager hired me away from dusting desks and cleaning toilets to be their messenger. I learned to package escrow instructions while waiting for my next delivery and I learned to type on my lunch hour. Within about 9 months, I was promoted to an Escrow Secretary Trainee. My escrow career began to grow and I worked at title companies, independent escrow companies, banks and an internet company.

My 35 year escrow career took a temporary hiatus in 2011 and I handled home loan complaints mostly regarding short sales, foreclosures and refinances. I handled escalated complaints received by the bank from regulatory agencies, attorneys general, senators, and bank executives. When the home loan complaints slowed down, my team and I were transferred to Social Media Servicing and I monitored and responded to social media postings on Twitter, Facebook and Blogs. I continued to learn and adapt and gained skills in consumer and small business deposit accounts and credit cards. My responsibility was to help turn a negative experience around by providing solutions or alternatives to help teach responsible banking. After seven years working in the banking industry, I am now working in the escrow field again with Viva Escrow! Inc. as their Compliance Officer. I am happy to be working with a highly skilled team of escrow professionals at Viva Escrow! Inc.

I was introduced to the California Escrow Association when I was a Junior Escrow Officer and my Escrow Officer invited me to go to conference in San Diego. This was a whole new experience for me and I loved learning new things. I remember going to sessions about mobile homes, bulk transfers, exchanges, notes and trust deeds. Shortly after that I joined the escrow association and enjoyed going to the regional dinner meetings to learn more, make new friends, and get involved. I am an active member of my regional escrow association, and served as president in 1997 and again in 2010. Over time, I believe I have worked on every committee. In 2000, I was working at an internet company handling escrows for domain names and I convinced the board of directors of the escrow association that we needed our own domain name. After that, I developed the website for the Escrow Associates of San Gabriel Valley and to this day I continue to maintain it. I hold the professional designations of Certified Escrow Officer, Certified Senior Escrow Officer and Certified Escrow Instructor.
